Hello. I’m Ruth and I head up the team behind How to Home.
Long before the pandemic was part of our everyday lives, I was already working remotely.
Due to a weakened immune system, there were times when it wasn’t always possible to meet clients in person. So I needed to take my interior design company, LITTERARTY, in a new direction.
The How to Home box was born out of a need to still provide interior design services but in a smarter way. Everything my clients needed to design a room but just in a box. And delivered right to your door with easy-to-use direction. Quite simply, it’s a step-by-step guide that shows you how to make your house a home.
In a nutshell, it’s the closest thing you’ll get to using our services in person.
Meet the lady behind How to Home
Ruth
I’m an interior designer and stylist with a background in Art & Design History. Before I became an interior designer, I worked across the fashion and design industries. I’m also experienced in art curation and visual merchandising.
When I’m not obsessing about all-things interiors, I can be found blasting scratchy, old records or dancing away to soul music. I live in Vans, despite having an ‘above average’ collection of other shoes and I’m a risotto connoisseur (with a glass of red in hand).
I can often be found aimlessly wandering around an art gallery or out and about with my husband Dan and our little canine sidekicks, Ruby and Albert. Our dogs are life.

There’s a myth that interior design is unattainable for the masses. A lot of people assume you need to have wads of cash. Not true. Let’s just bin that misconception right here. Any interior designer worth their salt will work within your budget.

Every home deserves great design
You only have to watch any interior TV show to get the impression that designers are hard to deal with and ‘it’s their way or no way’. Definitely not how we work. We like to think we’re very down-to-earth and approachable, we never let our own tastes get in the way of your needs.
That’s why HowtoHome begins by asking you what you want from your room. After all, this is your space and it absolutely needs to reflect who you are. Once we have a clear idea, we then work on making your room functional, beautiful and sustainable.
